Andy Ruiz recorded a monster upset, by knocking down Britain’s Joshua four times to take the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organization titles.
Anthony Joshua had hoped to make a splash in his US debut but it ended in misery for the three belts heavyweight world champion with a stunning loss to the underdog, Ruiz Jr.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, Andy Ruiz Jr said: “I still can’t believe it. I am still pinching myself to see if this is real.
“But everything is possible man. Look at me, I just made history. The speed got him, (Joshua),” Ruiz said.
The newly-crowned world champion, Andy Ruiz Jr, will get just £5million, after producing one of the greatest heavyweight upsets in history, against Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden.
The dethroned WBA, WBO and IBF champion will take home £20m, after suffering the first defeat of his career.
