Legendary music producer, Hammer who is known in real life as Edward Nana Opoku Agyeman in an interview with Tv Africa, asked dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale to give him a chance to sell 1 million copies of his Reign Album on the streets in Ghana.
Hammer stated in his interview with Nikki Samonas on TV Africa that Shatta Wale is his biggest idol now and would want to sell 1 million copies of his upcoming Reign Album.
‘I have a request for Shatta, my biggest Idol right now, i want to sell 1 MILLION COPIES of the REIGN ALBUM on the street of Accra, am throwing this challenge to him, he should avail it to me, at A1 we have a machine that we can deliver about 1 MILLION copies of the REIGN ALBUM’ he said.
Shatta Wale who saw his interview, in a Tweet post has accepted his challenge. He tweeted:

At a time, when CD sales have been low because of piracy and ease of acesss to songs on the albums of musicians on some blogs, it’s going to be a tough challenge for Hammer, although not impossible.
Shatta Wale’s last album, ‘After The Storm’ was sold for Ghc10 per CD at the launch, although you could also get it at Ghc5 after the launch at some places.
If his upcoming album, Reign sells at Ghc10 each after the launch and Hammer is able to successfully sell One Million copies of the album, that would be Ghc10 million (100 billion old cedis) and if the album is sold for 5ghc, that would be some cool Ghc5 million (50 billion old cedis) in revenue.
We’ve not heard of any Ghanaian artiste selling 1 million copies of an album either on digital stores or CDs at least in the last 20 years in Ghana.
If Shatta Wale is able to get 1 million fans to buy his album for Ghc5, he would be smiling each time he opens his bank account.
