“Tollbooths Are Not Market Centers; Go To The Market And Sell There” – Majority leader Kyei Mensah Bonsu Fires Hawkers

Majority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu says the government’s decision to close down tollbooths is apt.

Speaking on Okay FM he said monies accrued from the various tollbooths end up being used to service the very same place thereby making it a useless venture.

Reacting to comments by hawkers who ply their trade around the various tollbooths in the country that they have lost their source of livelihood as a result of the close-down, Kyei-Mensah said the tollbooth is not a market center.

To him, it doesn’t make much sense for any hawker to complain that their jobless because tollbooths have been closed down.

The Majority leader insists tollbooths were not created to serve as a marketplace for street hawkers, although sympathizing with them for the tough times in the country, he noted that they can ply their trade somewhere else.
