Britain has now approved the pill to counter coronavirus and it’s the first country in history to accept the drug.
The use of Merck’s antiviral pill is for patients suffering from mild to moderate coronavirus infections.
This was made known by the Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)
Sajid Javid, the HealMinisterter said, “Today is a historic day for our country, as the UK is now the first country in the world to approve an antiviral that can be taken at home for Covid-19”
Reports suggests that the pill was licensed for people from 18 years and above who have tested for the Covid 19 and people who have at least one risk suggestion developing severe disease.
The drug identified as Molnupiravir is intended to be taken twice a day for five days by people at home with mild to moderate COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Molnupiravir is pending review at the regulators in the US, Europe as the United States Food and Drug Administration made it known last month that it would convene a panel of independent expert to investigate the pill’s safety and effectiveness in late November.
