Video: After spending months to create a sculpture, Ghanaians don’t patronize – Sculptor Mustapha Dimson cries out

Art is simply beautiful and one hell of a job as the ultimate reality or better still God Himself didn’t find it easy putting the universe together.

And that’s why one doesn’t need a religion or if you like a reason to pay homage to God, the creator of the universe considering the stress He passed through during creation.

But in our part of the world (Ghana), the case is different as the natives barely patronize and appreciate the works or artists especially sculptors – those who use clay to make designs.

In the voice of Mustapha Dimson, a renowned sculptor and the brain behind the 37 Military Hospital sculpture, the work of a sculptor is very challenging and a lot goes into it, but appreciation and patronize of it by Ghanaians is low.

Speaking to GHBase Tv crew, Mustapha Dimson noted how he used one solid year to get a single contract which is the nursing mother statue situated in front of the popular 37 Military Hospital.

He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to give artists the maximum support especially in reference to patronizing sculpted works so that their industry can grow like the music industry.
