The Ghana Police Department have in a press conference have disclosed that 7 people have been arrested in connection with the gun shooting incident at Nima a suburb of Accra.
The Press meeting was spearheaded by the Assistant Commissioner of Police & Director of Public Relations, Kwesi Ofori at the Police headquarters.
According to Kwesi Ofori, the violence was caused by a misunderstanding between two notorious gang leaders in the community.
He explained that these two gangs have never seen eye to eye for years and this time around they decided to make their disagreement physical by shooting and destroying properties in the neighbourhood.
Kwesi Ofori further revealed that the violence at Nima was led by one Kumodji alias Ibrahim Hussein and “Bombom” aka Ali Awudu.
The two are gang leaders of a rival gang at Nima who have been at each other’s throats for years.
The Nima Police Department have discharged some police officers to restore peace and calm in the neighbourhood until all the perpetrators are brought to book and made to face the full force of the law.
The police have also seized some ammunition and other items for a thorough investigation.
