Video: ‘We’ve heard you Mr. President but we’re still on strike’— NAGRAT Prez Carbonu insists

Prior to resuming their strike action, the striking pre-tertiary teachers have requested improved discussions from the administration.

To terminate the protest, NAGRAT president Angel Carbonu believes the government must offer them something practical in return for their demands.

“For now, we are hoping that our members will hear from us and decide to call off the strike. We are still on strike and have not canceled it,” he said.

July 4, 2022, was proclaimed a National Day of Strike action by four teacher unions in reaction to the failure of the Government in meeting their demand for a 20 percent increase in the Cost-of-Living Allowance (COLA) (COLA).

And while we await the conclusion of current discussions, President Akufo-Addo appealed to teachers’ unions to cease their strike during this year’s national prayers for Edul Adha (the Day of Atonement).

Statehood is in a precarious situation, according to Akufo-Addo, because of the present economic crisis.
