Videos from the burial ceremony of Victoria Agbotui late mother of J.J Rawlings

The burial ceremony of the late Victoria Abgotui mother to Former President Jerry John Rawlings is underway at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

News of the passing of Madam Victoria Agbotui broke on September 24, 2020, just a fortnight after she celebrated her 101st birthday. According to reports she has been unwell for a while and passed away, unfortunately.

Born in 1919, Madam Victoria Agbotui came into the limelight following her son’s ascension to power in 1979. She was also the head of the catering department at the presidency during her son’s reign. Victoria Agbotui hailed from Dzelukope near Keta in the Volta Region.

Videos from the burial ceremony have popped online with the solemn arrival of Former President Rawlings and family to pay their last respect to grandmother Victoria. Other family members, friends and sympathizers were present to mourn with the NDC’s Founder.

Members from both sides of the political divide were present to commiserate with the family in this difficult time.

Those present at the burial ceremony were clad in white to signify a celebration of the life of Victoria Agbotui who has lived for over 100 years and blessed Ghana with the first president of the 4th Republic.

After the non-denominational service was performed at 10 am, the remains of Madam Victoria Agbotui has been conveyed to her hometown Dzelukope near Keta in the Volta Region, where she will be eternally laid to rest.

Madam Victoria Agbotui was earlier laid in state for family, friends and the public to pay their last respect.
