WAEC leak: WAEC yet to set date for leaked WASSCE papers

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it is yet to announce new dates to re-write the two papers cancelled in the ongoing West African Senior Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a report shared by 3News, WAEC says this is as a result of the fact that the examinations are conducted on the regional continent and not Ghana alone.

On the other hand, the educational regulatory body has rescheduled the two papers – Physics Part 2 and 1 and Business Management due to leakages in the system.

The Head of the Council’s Test Administration Division, George Ohene-Mantey, explained at a press conference that “the cheating social media groups were in full swing prior to the conduct of the Mathematics and the English Language papers on 9th and 13th September”.

Reacting to the issue on when the examination body would fix dates for the rewriting of these papers on Onua TV News hosted by Daakyehemaa Adwoa Asantewaa on Thursday, Madam Winifred Ampiaw of the Public Affairs Department explained that “the papers were Physics Part 2 & 1 and Business Management and we have not fix a date for that”.

She said “it is an international exam. It’s not only Ghana. Other African countries are also involved so it will involve other member countries to take a decision”.

Madam Ampiaw assured that “we shall report back to the public if any decision is taken”.

Information from 3News was added to this report.
