There have been concerns raised that Jesus Christ was a carpenter. We can take a look at the Gospel scripture to know whether Jesus was indeed a carpenter or not. Mark 6:3 gives us an account of those in Christ’s hometown when he came back to teach in the synagogue “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offence at him.” According to that, Jesus was referred to as a carpenter, a work he learnt from his father.

The Gospel also mentions carpentry in Matthew 13:54-55, saying “Coming to his hometown [Jesus] taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, ‘Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?'”
