Pokuase sex workers have announced their decision not to offer their services to members of the Ghana Police Service.
According to them, “they are going to starve” police officers for the next five years.
This directive is a reaction from the sex workers in Pokuase after some of their members were arrested about a week ago.
On May 22, 2021, the Ghana Police Service organized a swoop at Pokuase and arrested 33 workers.
The exercise was based on intelligence to arrest commercial sex workers and destroy their unauthorised habitats, which mostly accommodated drug dealers, robbers and minors used in sexual exploitation.
The operation also saw the demolishing of several unauthorised wooden structures inhabited by commercial sex workers mostly Nigerian nationals and a few Ghanaians.
Following that, a statement has emerged from the quarters of these sex workers who are announcing that due to the fact that they do not receive preferential treatment from the police despite the service they render to them, they have decided to go on a boycott.
“We are undertaking this position to starve police officers who are always in bed with us to learn their lessons not to raid us in a Rambo style again,” part of the statement read:
