In order to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria must overcome Ghana at home, according to Jay-Jay Okocha.
He says the Super Eagles will have no excuse if they don’t beat the Black Stars and go to Qatar.
Ghana and Nigeria drew 0-0 in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup qualifying playoffs at Kumasi.
Both teams were equally matched in the first leg, leaving everything to play for in the return leg in Abuja.
“If we can’t win at home, we don’t deserve to be in the World Cup in 2022,” Okocha remarked, via Footballghana.
“We must win to qualify in front of our supporters. What more do we need?”
Meanwhile, Okocha recently said that when he thinks about Ghana football, he thinks of “underachievers.”
Okocha told Joy Sports’ Gary Al-Smith that Ghana’s potential should be able to accomplish more
Adding to that, the former Bolton Wanderers great stated the Black Stars’ issue may be ego.
When asked about Ghanaian football, Okocha said: “Underachievers. Because I know Ghanaians are talented, but they never seem to gel as a team.
This is why I believe they are underachievers since from the outside it seems they never have a strong team spirit.
On Tuesday, March 29, Ghana and Nigeria will meet off again for a spot in the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
