We trusted Shatta Wale but he disappointed us – CEO of Charter House

The organisers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Charterhouse Ghana have revealed that they were disappointed in the behaviour of dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale on the night of last year’s VGMA.

According to the organisers, it was Shatta Wale’s orchestration that led to the event going into a halt for over 45 minutes bringing their reputation into dispute.

Prior to the VGMA20, a photo of Shatta Wale and the CEO of Charterhouse, Mrs Theres Aoyade surfaced after they held a closed-door meeting to discuss the way forward after he was barred from the scheme for his furious actions against the event organisers.

After the meeting, Shatta Wale posted a photo of himself and the CEO of Charter House, Mrs Theresa Ayoade on Instagram and wrote: “Big things about to happen. Thank you madam Theresa C.E.O of Charter House Ghana!! VGMA 20years celebration and I am happy to be part of it …” – a clear indication that they have settled their long-standing feud and have put measures in place but things went the other way when Shatta Wale’s actions distracted the event.

The CEO of Charter House Madam Theresa Ayoade in a recent press conference uncovered that she and her outfit were baffled in Shatta Wale for upsetting last year’s occasion which brought the brand in disregard.

According to her, before last year’s event, her outfit and Shatta Wale had occupied with a progression of gatherings and he demonstrated to them that he was for sure a changed individual so they chose to give him the possibility.

“He apologized publicly, came to the office several times with several entourages. So when it was time for this 20th-anniversary celebration, we decided to give him another chance,” she said. “We had a one-on-one session with him and he promised me personally that ‘all those issues are gone, he was young then, now he’s older, he’s grown’”.

“We did everything we could to ensure that we’re on the same footing… After the Xperience Concert, we called him back to the office that ‘some of your guys were being too rough so we are not happy about that. We want you to assure us…’ It shows the kind of engagement. It wasn’t the normal type of engagement,” she said, stressing that they were shocked he broke his promise on the night.

“We were all taken aback. We saved him his five seats just like Stonebwoy. There are things you’d regret but you cannot beat yourself over it. We had saved his five seats for him; he said his father to his father and sister to come and sit in the seat. The rest of the three seats remained empty the whole night [thinking] Shatta Wale was coming to sit on his seat… We didn’t anticipate that going to sit with his fans meant they were planning something.”

“We took his word for it. We trusted him, we trusted the good intentions, we trusted the fact that he appreciated the industry and he would behave. We gave him that trust and he abused that trust by pulling that stunt,” she said.
