Akufo Addo has fired Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), for his role in the dismissal of Ghanaian teacher Michael Owusu Afriyie.
Michael Owusu Afriyie, also known by his nickname, “Teacher Kwadwo,” has long believed that he was unlawfully fired from his position as a teacher at the Akrofrom District Assembly Primary School.
Secretary to the President Nana Bediatuo Asante wrote that Professor Opoku-services Amankwa’s were no longer required as of Monday, October 17, 2022.
“The Ministry of Education has informed this office that the exigencies that required your skills and expertise as Director-General of the Ghana Education Service do not exist any longer.
“The President thanks you for your service to the nation and wishes you the very best in your future endeavours,” the letter said.
Teacher Kwadwo, responding to the news that caught many people off guard, sent out a humorous tweet that said,”Welcome home Daddy. Awaawaawaaa…atubaaaaam.”
The Ghana Education Service announced the sacking of the beloved educator and comedian/YouTuber in 2021.
During one school year, he reportedly missed 55 days of class.
