The Wenchi High court has dismissed the case brought by the New Patriotic Party over their displeasure with the Sene West parliamentary seat as far as the 2020 election is concerned.
A heavy fine of ¢14,000 was also placed on the party by the court over what they (the court) describes as “irredeemably incompetent.”
Consequently, the court has given the Electoral Commission the go-ahead to announce the election results for the Sene West constituency as the earlier interlocutory injunction submitted by the NPP’s parliamentary candidate Joseph Markay Kuma was also quashed.
The court case rendered the election results for the constituency oustanding. NPP had Nana Sekyere Boateng and Obiri Boahen as their legal representatives while the NDC had Kojoga Adawudu and Ofosu Agyare perform the same role on Thursday.
With heavy police presence at the court necessitated by the volatility of the case and the security in the area, Justice Frederick Arnold Na-wura delivered the verdict directing the EC to go on with the declaration.
