Pentecostalism is a relatively new Christian movement that has roots in the Methodist Church’s Holiness period. Speaking in tongues is a sign of Holy Spirit baptism, which is the main focus of Pentecostal congregations.

Beliefs of Pentecostals 

The Holy Bible

Pentecosts acknowledge the authority and divine inspiration of the Holy Bible. that the provisions contained in the Bible are complete, all-sufficient, and infallible in its declaration. (2 Peter 1:20–21; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17).

 

God

They hold the belief that the universe was created by the Lord, Elohim, who is not known/seen but revealed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16, 17; 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14); He is one and with the attributes – Omnipotent (Deuteronomy 6:4; Job 42:2; Isaiah 46:9, 10; Revelation 19:6); Omnipresent (Psalm 139:7-12; 147:5); Omniscient (Job 42:2; Isaiah 46:9, 10; Acts 5:4-5)

 

Baptism & The Lord’s Supper (Communion)

Additionally, they accept the ordinance of baptism by immersion as a sign of a convert who has reached the legal age of consent, which is 13 years old as recorded in Acts 2:38; Matthew 3:16; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:10, 11 and Mark 16:16. Infants and young children are consecrated to the Lord rather than being baptized (Mark 10:13-16; Luke 2:22-24, 34).

All members who are in complete fellowship with one another should partake in the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper or Communion (Luke 22:19, 20; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-33).

 

Tithe & Offering

Pentecosts support tithing and the giving of offerings in order to advance the goals of God’s Kingdom. We think that a cheerful giver is rewarded by God (Genesis 14:18-20; Malachi 3:6-10; Matthew 23:23; Acts 20:35; Hebrews 7:1-4; I Corinthians 16:1, 2; 2 Corinthians 9:1-9).

 

The Second Coming of Christ & Next Life 

They hold to the belief in the return of Jesus Christ and the bodily resurrection of both redeemed and lost individuals. The dead in Christ will rise to life, while the living in Christ will rise to judgment as recorded in (Daniel 12:2; Mark 13:26; John 5:28, 29; Acts 1:11; Acts 10:42; Romans 2:7-11; Romans 6:23).

Divine Healing

They hold that God’s people are given access to the healing of illnesses and diseases through the divine. (Isaiah 53:4,5; Matthew 8:7-13; 16,17; Mark 16:17,18; Luke 13:10-16; Acts 10:38; James 5:14-16). The Church, however, is not against medical professionals who are qualified to provide drugs, though.
