Holiness as a word is translated in the New Testament as ‘set apart’. And in the Old Testament, translates it with God’s perfection. Isn’t it confusing how we can be set apart and be perfect at the same time? Every living soul has sinned(Romans 3:23) and therefore is imperfect before the Lord.
The only option left for us to be set apart is through Salvation provided through Jesus (John 3:16; Romans 10:9; Ephesians 2:8-9). When we tend to have faith and belief in Jesus Christ, he will cleanse us from sin and makes us Holy just as (1 John 1:7) has said.
In the Holy Bible, 1 Peter 2:9 talked of this new status “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” God Almighty calls humans holy Eve though we are still sinners while we live on earth.
Additionally, being made holy means you’re called to live a holy life 1 Peter 1:15 says that “As he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.” The previous verse adds, “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance” (v. 14). We are, however, instructed to avoid the ways before becoming a true child of God and live His ways. We can only do this by trying as much as possible to live by His words and ways by any means necessary.

What Is Holiness In The Bible Mean?
First of all, the word holiness in the Bible is the state of being focused, attentive and disciplined to matters of righteous living. That is, as Paul said in Romans 12:1-2, a complete life fully presented to the Lord in a way that leads us to His way and helps us live a life He will be proud of.
How Do You Practice Holiness?
To get a prayer answered, you need to pray to God wholeheartedly and with a clean heart. Your prayer doesn’t need to be long to get it heard. It could be something simple ambit with weight. It could be something like, “God, let me thirst for holiness more than I thirst for worldliness, and make me holy in every aspect of my character and actions.”
Why does God want us to be holy?
The word of God never changes. 1 Peter 1:16 says that “be ye holy; for I am holy”. The main reason why God called us to be holy is because He wants us 5o get away from sin. The world is already in darkness and chaos. He calls us out to live a pure, sanctified and righteous life.
