He first gained recognition for his comedy when he appeared on the nationally syndicated talent show, “Star Search,” in 1992. Rickey then went on to perform stand-up comedy at venues across the country, establishing himself as one of the leading comedians of his generation.
In 2000, Smiley began hosting his own nationally syndicated morning radio show, “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show.” The show has since become one of the most popular urban morning shows in the country and has won numerous awards, including the NAB Marconi Radio Award for Syndicated Personality of the Year.
