The word “hope” is frequently used in today’s culture to denote wishful thinking. However, the term tiqwa is derived from the same root as the Old Testament verb qawa, which is translated as hope. Both expressions mean “to trust and wait eagerly.”
The New Testament also sends its message using the verb elpizo and the noun elpis. However, in the New Testament, hope is no longer merely a figure of phrase. Hope is centered on and invested in Jesus as a person. 1 Timothy 4:10 (NIV) “That is why we labor and strive because we have put our hope (elpizo) in the living God, who is the Savior of all people…”

What Is Hope?
Depending on who is speaking and what he or she is talking about, the meaning or concept of hope might vary. When we use the word “hope” in a spiritual context, it may mean having confidence in a higher force(God or any other) and hoping for the best. They could use prayer to focus their hopes on others.
Others may see this as constantly seeing the positive side of things and viewing obstacles as opportunities. In other words, “hoping for the best” at all times.
Attributes of Hope In The Bible
Hope Is Always In The Future And Never Seen
“For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” Romans 8:24-25
Perseverance In Our Struggling Brings Hope
“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope” Romans 5:3-4
Hope Brings Us Joy And Peace
“The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.” Proverbs 10:28
Jesus Christ Is Our Only Living Hope
“waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,” Titus 2:13
Christ’s Resurrection Brought Us Hope
“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
Without Jesus, There Is No Hope For Us
“Remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.” Ephesians 2:12

What Is Hope From God?
God’s hope is a gift to all mankind. The hope given to us by the Lord helps us to attain joy, peace, joy, love, power and confidence. The Bible tells us that this is a true and rarest gift from the Most High.
We can record this in Romans 5:5 “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
