Andre Braugher gained recognition for his portrayal of Detective Frank Pembleton in the gripping police drama series Homicide: Life on the Street, which aired from 1993 to 1999. His acting journey began around 1989, and he made his first notable appearance in the film Glory, where he brilliantly portrayed the character of Thomas Searles.

In the late 1980s, Braugher also showcased his talent as Kojak’s trusty sidekick in the ABC television film revival of Kojak. Not only that, he lent his voice to the villain Darkseid in the animated film Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. Braugher also co-starred in the off-Broadway production of The Whipping Man at the Manhattan Theatre Club for a limited run from January to March 2011.

From 2006 to 2010, he had the honor of narrating the introduction to the Olympic Games on NBC. Furthermore, Braugher lent his voice to the narration of James Patterson’s book Cross Fire (2010) in the Alex Cross series. In ABC’s military drama TV series Last Resort, he appeared as Capt. Marcus Chaplin, the main character, and had a recurring role as defence attorney Bayard Ellis on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

As California Governor Woodchuck Coodchuck-Berkowitz, Braugher also starred in a recurring role in the fourth season of the Netflix cartoon comedy BoJack Horseman. Ray Holt, the precinct captain, was the character he portrayed in the Golden Globe-winning television series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He was nominated four times for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
