Mackenzie Crook Biography
Mackenzie Crook was born on September 29 in Maidstone, Kent to parents Michael Crook and Sheila Crook, who worked as a British Airways employee and a hospital manager, respectively. He attended Wilmington Grammar School for Boys.
In 1996, Crook began his acting career, and his first role was in a movie called “The Man Who Fell in Love with a Traffic Cone”. He also appeared on Channel 4’s sketch show, “Barking”, in 1998.
Crook rose to fame after playing Gareth Keenan in the widely popular mockumentary, “The Office”, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. He won the role and received nominations for BAFTA awards for his outstanding performance.
Mackenzie also starred in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, appearing in “The Curse of the Black Pearl” (2003), “Dead Man’s Chest” (2006), and “At World’s End” (2007).
In 2013, Crook was part of the cast for the hit TV show “Game of Thrones” playing the role of Orell. His performance earned him a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
