Olaplex has recently been under fire, especially on TikTok and Instagram, where “de-influencers” like reality TV star turned beauty influencer and entrepreneur Kristin Cavallari have advised followers to stay away from the product line.
The CEO of the high-end haircare brand Olaplex has spoken out in defense of the business against a $75,000 lawsuit in response to complaints from consumers across the globe that the products “cause hair loss and damage.”
Jue Wong responded to concerns highlighted by the California lawsuit alleging that more than two dozen users of Olaplex products experienced blisters and baldness in a video posted on Instagram.
The lawsuit also alleges that the company made false statements about the efficacy of its products and disguised the fact that its formula contains potentially harmful chemicals. The company acquired attention for promising to “bond-build” damaged hair.
