Hamas released a video featuring Arye Zalmanovich, an 86-year-old Israeli taken hostage from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7. Zalmanovich, who has health issues requiring medical attention, is shown in the video, raising concerns about his well-being.
The man has allegedly passed away, according to Hamas’ armed wing, but it is still unclear if the video, which was shared on the Qassam Brigades Telegram channel, is authentic.
Who was Arye Zalmanovich?
Zalmanovich needs medical attention because he has health problems. Concerns regarding his life are raised by the video that Hamas released.
Zalmanovich was a member of the left-wing Hashomer Hatzair youth movement and was raised in Haifa. He was employed as a farmer at Kibbutz Nir Oz, where he was one of the founders, in 1955.
The terror group Hamas, which practices Islam, published a chilling video on Friday that showed the 86-year-old hostage resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz, Arye Zalmanovich. The man has allegedly passed away, according to Hamas’ armed wing, but it is still unclear if the video, which was shared on the Qassam Brigades Telegram channel, is authentic.
The video opens with an elderly Zalmanovich speaking of his failing health. Hamas claims Zalmanovich was ill for a long time. He first appears in a clinic setting. The scenes that follow show someone, most likely Zalmanovich, clothed and dead.
Hamas claims the man died from panic attacks brought on by Israeli bombings, but there is no independent evidence to support this assertion. According to reports in the Israeli media, Zalmanovich was receiving medical attention for an undisclosed illness.
It’s important to remember that Hamas has a history of releasing videos showing people who have been kidnapped and taken to the Gaza Strip.
Notably, another video that appeared earlier in the week purports to show a female soldier who was slain by an Israeli airstrike, according to Hamas. Subsequently, the Israeli army declared the 19-year-old woman dead, but they withheld information regarding what caused her death.
The publication of these upsetting films prompts questions about the ongoing dispute and the organization’s use of media to spread its message.
What is Happening in Hamas?
On October 7, Hamas and other extremist factions carried out a brutal attack against civilians in the Israeli border region, resulting in the abduction of approximately 240 individuals to the coastal strip. Since then, four women have been released, and the Israeli army successfully rescued a female soldier.
Unfortunately, two women, including the 19-year-old soldier featured in the Hamas video, were discovered deceased. As the situation continues to develop, the global community anxiously observes, hoping for a peaceful resolution to this humanitarian crisis.
Since taking over the Gaza Strip in 2006, Hamas has maintained that the goals of this attack were to break the blockade on Gaza, secure the release of Palestinian prisoners, and stop Israeli actions close to the al-Aqsa Mosque. Israel responded by declaring war on Hamas that same day. More than 5,000 people were killed and 15,000 injured in Gaza, according to Palestinian officials.
In addition, Israel imposed a “full siege” on the Gaza Strip on October 9, cutting off all fuel, food, and electricity supplies, worsening the region’s already dire humanitarian situation.
