Douglas Osborne McClure was born on 11th May, 1935 in Glendale, California, United States of America to his parents Clara Elsie, an English, and Donald Reed McClure, an Irish-American. Clara immigrated to the country in 1915, and in 1918 she was granted citizenship.

In the year 1929, she married Donald Reed. Douglas McClure and his elder brother Donald Reed McClure Jr. were their two sons. In 1971, Clara was reported to have been married to Frank Clapp.

He was a quarterback in high school football and pursued acting studies at the University of California, Los Angeles and Santa Monica City College. McClure got modeling jobs and TV advertisements while attending college.

Douglas McClure had a turbulent love life that led to a number of failed relationships. He tied the knot with Faye Brash from 1957 to 1961. Soon after his first divorce, he tied the knot with the actress, Barbara Luna.

They were married from 1961 to 1963, a period of two years. In the year 1965, he was also married to Helen Crane. In 1968, they got divorced. From 1970 to 1979, he was married to Diane Soldani.

McClure married Diane Furnberg in the year 1979, and the two remained partners up until his passing. Tane McClure and Valerie McClure, the actor’s daughters, are the only ones left behind. After battling lung cancer for months, Douglas Osborne McClure passed away in Sherman Oaks, California, on February 5, 1995. He is interred at Santa Monica’s “Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery.”
