“Why didn’t you consult us before lifting the ban on us?” – Stonebwoy questions VGMA organizers

Earlier this month, organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) released a statement announcing to the public that the 2-year ban on Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy has been lifted.

This ban came into force following the disagreement and near fight that marred the 2019 edition of the VGMAs where Stoneboy nearly pulled a trigger on Shatta Wale on stage.

The VGMA per their rules decided to put a ban on Shatta Wale and Stonebwou which meant that they wouldn’t be included in the nominations list and any other thing affiliated or related to the Charterhouse brand.

Well, VGMA ahead of the 2021 edition of the prestigious award night has decided unanimously to lift the ban on Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy with the belief that both artistes have turned over a new leaf.

This, Stonebwoy believes, was not done right because they weren’t consulted before the ban was lifted on them.

According to the BHIM Nation president, it would have been prudent for the organizers of the VGMA to have consulted and sought their permissions before lifting the ban on them…perhaps they wouldn’t want to have anything to do with the VGMAs.

He wrote the following on Twitter.:

Dear VGMA Board & Scheme organisers,I hear the purpose of the VGMA is to celebrate and project Ghanaian musicians and music. If that is so, it takes nothing from you to meet with us the artistes/ our reps b4 reaching decisions that affect us and communicating them to the public.

The right to be heard is a principle that applies in every noble society. Even the all seeing God, who had already seen and knew all that Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden, still made sure he heard them before he took action against them. #IfTheySoDesire really???
