Award winning Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has thrown shades at the Electoral Commission chairman, Jean Mensah for refusing to be cross examined by the lawyers of the opposing NDC party at the ongoing election petition.
The Supreme Court in a unanimous decision ruled that Jean Mensa and Peter Mac Manu would not testify or be allowed to be cross examined but the NDC lawyers.
The apex court made the ruling on Thursday, February 11, 2021, on the back of an application filed by lead counsel for the Electoral Commission, Justine Amenuvor and that of President Akufo-Addo, Akoto Ampaw, asking for permission not to call any witness.
Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah who read the ruling said the judges were not convinced by the contrary arguments made by Tsatsu Tsikata, lead counsel for the petitioner.
Well, reacting to this, Manasseh in a Facebook post suggested that what is happening in the court looks as if Jean Is being shielded from accountability or she is simply running away from defending her work.
