The SM honcho has finally given a different perspective to his infamous ‘Reggie is poor’ comment which caused a huge buzz within the entertainment industry and the social media landscape.
Speaking to seasoned journalist and blogger Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM, Shatta Wale his comment wasn’t targeted at Reggie Rockstone (the man famously known to have invented Hiplife in Ghana and popularised indigenous rap music in Africa), but all musicians in general, including himself.
He said Ghanaian musicians often pretend they are rich which not true which is why the government doesn’t improve the sector and turn around to tax them too. He explained himself by saying;
“I went to UTV and said we are poor and I was asked by the hostess if Reggie is poor and I said he is poor. I am not saying Reggie Rockstone is poor and I want to meet Reggie Rockstone and even explain that thing to him that if I say that, I’m saying it for all us because we have painted a certain picture to this our leaders that we are too okay and that is what is affecting us” he explained.
“GRA (Ghana Revenue Authority) has sent me a huge sum of money to pay as tax. It’s because of the way we are carrying ourselves in this industry that is why we are getting things like this. I didn’t get any letter from GRA when I was hustling and poor and living in Nima but as soon as I became Shatta Wale, GRA has sent me a letter” he added.
