World Cup Qualifier: Shambolic Black Stars lose to spirited Bafana Bafana

Ghana’s World Cup effort has suffered another setback after the Black Stars were beaten by the Bafana Bafana of South Africa today.

A very dispirited Blacks Stars team was beaten South Africa by 1:0 in the dying embers of the game. A 83rd-minute goal by Bongokuhle Hlongwane which was poorly dealt with by the goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi and the defender won the game for South Africa.

Ghana’s first game against Ethiopia at the Cape Coast stadium was won courtesy of a 40-yard screamer by Mubarak Wakaso which was poorly handled by the goalkeeper.

That game gave many Ghanaians the premonition that the Black Stars will be beaten when they face South Africa. This is exactly what happened today after the final whistle was blown.

Ghana is expected to play its next World Cup Qualifier in October. At the moment Ghana is second on the table with 3 points. South Africa leads the table with 4 points.

The Blacks Stars will know is nowhere close to the one we are being made to accept and love. A very shambolic performance from the team has given Ghanaians the reason to believe that coach CK Akonnor needed to be sacked ASAP.
