Yaa Pono’s Name Didn’t Affect Him As He Claims But He Wasn’t Destined To Shine Early – Top Showbiz Pundit

We earlier on reported on how Yaa Pono in a comprehensive interaction with Graphic showbiz reminisced how the the choice of his stage name caused retrogression in his music career.

According to Yaa Pono in the said interview, radio presenters failed to play his songs with the explanation that his stage name will appear derogatory before their listeners. To him, such experience really affected the growth of his career because even after releasing hit songs, they’re only played in clubs not on radio and television years ago.

However, Prince Tsegah of Hitz FM thinks otherwise saying that Yaa Pono’s claims that his stage name didn’t help him become a household name like Sarkodie is not a valid argument. In the rightful thinking of Prince Tsegah, the name ‘Pono’ gave Yaa Pono the needed mileage.

“For Yaa Pono, I do not think he wasn’t getting media attention because of his name, I think may be it wasn’t yet his time to blow”, Tsegah said.

He further mentioned that the youths who’re primary consumers of Ghanaian songs don’t have problem with the name “Yaa Pono”, therefore, what the Tema-based rapper posited in his interview with showbiz can’t be taken serious.
