Pitcher Zachery Michael Pop, a native of Canada, plays Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Toronto Blue Jays. He debuted in Major League Baseball (2021) with the Miami Marlins.
Pop went to Brampton, Ontario’s Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School.
He was selected in the 23rd round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, but he chose not to sign and instead attended the University of Kentucky to play collegiate baseball.
He participated in summer baseball as a collegiate player for the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Wareham Gatemen in 2016.

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Pop in the seventh round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft. After signing with the AZL Dodgers, he pitched five scoreless innings in his professional debut.
He signed a contract with the Great Lakes Loons in 2018 and then received a promotion to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
Manny Machado was dealt to the Baltimore Orioles on July 18, 2018, along with Pop, Breyvic Valera, Dean Kremer, Yusniel Diaz, and Rylan Bannon.
He ended the season with the Bowie Baysox, where he was assigned. Between Rancho Cucamonga, Great Lakes, and Bowie, he made 44 relief appearances and finished with a 2–3 record and 1.53 ERA.
In 2019, he made a comeback to Bowie and pitched 10.2 innings in a 1–0 game with a 0.84 ERA. He had Tommy John surgery on May 14 and missed the remainder of the 2019 campaign.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic-related cancellation of the minor league season in 2020, Pop did not participate in any games.
The Arizona Diamondbacks picked Pop in the 2020 Rule 5 Draft. Pop was traded to the Miami Marlins shortly after that in return for Tyler Jones. Pop was on the Opening Day roster of the Marlins.
Pop made his Major League Baseball debut on April 3, 2021, when he relieved the Tampa Bay Rays in a scoreless inning.
