The issue of plagiarism and copyright have been making waves in Ghana for the past days especially where Sarkodie is being threatened by Mark Okraku Mantey over the issue of copyright.
It all started when Sarkodie featured Akwaboah to do a remix of the original song, “Kokooko” by the late Daasebre Gyamenah purposely to pay his last respect for him.
However, the original song was released when Daasebre Gyamenah was under the management of Slip Music Label owned by Mark Okraku Mantey. Therefore, Sarkodie’s failure to consult Mark to seek his approval before remixing the original song is the cause of all the copyright problems.
More importantly, the track under discussion was co-produced by the ace music producer, Zapp Mallet. Therefore, as the issue became severe, he had no option than to add his voice to it.
Check out unedited Zapp Mallet’s Facebook post on January 10 at exactly 4:45 pm:
“Wen u ask a Ghanaian to assess u, straightaway he’ll find wat is wrong wit u n not wat is sweet abt u. Wat is dis plagiarizing n copyright issues all abt? Gh, let’s learn to find d gud things in one another n forge ahead. I’m even tired of all dis bickerings. It’s enuf!”
Analysing the content of the post clearly, Zapp Mallet is not happy about the decision of Mark Okraku Mantey trying to scare Sarkodie with legal action on issue he consider not so important.
On record, Zapp Mallet was the brain behind major hit songs from the camp of artistes like Lord Kenya, Adane Best, Nana Yaw Asare, Ewura Esi, the late Daasebre Gyamenah and many others.
