There have been numerous debates going on among Ghanaians about the pending Ghana @ 60 celebration. These brouhaha are as a result of the proposed GH¢20 million amount meant for the Ghana @ 60 anniversary over the expense of pushing the amount into other socio-economic development which need immediate attention.

Afia Schwarzenegger believes spending millions of Ghana cedis for Ghana @ 60 celebrations this year is not needed now when citizens in the country are suffering. According to her, Ghana is not worth celebrating because even electricity and water have been the topmost problem the country is facing. Therefore, such problems must be dealt with instead of the independence celebration.

She again stated without mincing words that, the GH¢20 million budget is not captured anywhere in the campaign message of President Nana Akuffo Addo, therefore, the celebration will be a deviation by the president elect. The outspoken TV and radio presenter explaining why she think this year’s Independence Day celebration is not necessary stated clearly that, nothing shows the country is worth celebrating. Afia Schwarzenegger made these arguments in an interview with Nana Yaw Poku popularly known as Dj Roar on Entertainment Cirkle at Kessben FM in Kumasi.

Also, Afia Schwarzenegger stressed on the fact that some people want to use the Ghana @ 60 celebration to destroy the reputation of President Akuffo Addo. Simply, the very people who caused the downfall of former president John Dramani Mahama are the same people who’re propagating the celebration of Ghana @ 60 in order to create a bad name for president Nana Akuffo Addo and the NPP fraternity.

Funny enough, she also said that the Kumasi Kejetia market project initiative by John Mahama is of no use per her candid opinion. Thus, he should have constructed the Kejetia Market project in the Volta region because that could have won him some sympathy votes in the just ended general elections.
