Alexia Putellas biography
Alexia Putellas Segura was born on February 4, 1994, in Mollet del Vallès, a municipality in the province of Barcelona.
Alba is her younger sister. Putellas has been a fan of FC Barcelona since she was a child, and she would accompany her father to Camp Nou matches with the Penya of Mollet del Vallès.
She would also watch Barcelona games with her family at a local bar called La Bolera; she has stated that her family has always been ardent supporters of the club, with the exception of a cousin who supports Real Madrid.
Putellas looked up to male footballers Andrés Iniesta, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho, all of whom played for Barcelona, as well as female footballer Louisa Nécib, who played for Olympique Lyonnais. Iniesta has returned the idolatry, calling Putellas a role model and saying she encapsulates the values of FC Barcelona.
After attending Xavi’s football camps for two summers, her first club was the local CF Mollet UE boys’ team; she only stayed for three training sessions before leaving to join the Sabadell girls’ team because she did not like the atmosphere.
Putellas began studying Business Administration and Management at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona in 2013, after deciding to pursue a degree due to a lack of professionalism in Spanish women’s football. She later took a break from her studies to focus on football.
