Mickey Rourke is known in real life as Phillip Andre Rourke Jr and was born on September 16th, 1952 in Schenectady, New York, United States of America, as of 2022 he is 69 years old.

He holds American nationality and his ethnicity is Caucasian however Mickey Rourke believes in Christianity and his zodiac sign is Virgo.

His parents are Phillips (father) and Annette (mother). His father was an amateur bodybuilder in 1958 and he left his family and relocated hence the family also relocate to Miami where his mother remarried.

After Mickey Rourke and his family relocated he had to come up with a way to survive as his stepfather was abusive hence became prudent for him to curve his own life.

He had an interest in sports so he got training in self-defense and amateur boxing at the age of 12 he won his first boxing match and this gave him the motivation to train hard at the 5th Street Gym, Miami Beach.

He played and faced the likes of Luis Rodriguez and Nino Benevento but a concussion in 1971 made him take a year off from the game to rest as doctors advised and in his final year at Miami Beach Senior High School he got a cameo role in the school’s play, The Serpent.

When he was at the University of Miami, a friend challenged him to audition for a leading role in the play, Deathwatch and after getting the part he asked his sister to lend him $400 which he used to move to New York and got enrolled for acting classes by Sandra Seacat and Water Lott and since then he was featured in many Off-Broadway plays.

As his boxing career was seemingly over he invested most of his time in acting classes and since got cameo roles in different television movies in the mid-1970s but when he was still struggling financially it didn’t break his wing from soaring in the movie industry.

Before getting his much-awaited breakthrough in the industry, Mickey Rourke auditioned 78 times before he was named part of the cast for the film Body Heat and that movie marked the beginning of his rise to fame.

In the 1980s the actor continued to establish himself and had featured in several movies but his role in Wild Orchid in 1990 changed things as many criticized his role as James Wheeler and during that period he turned down offers to feature in popular shows like Rain Man, Top Gun, and Beverly Hill Cop.

His career took a downward turn when directors started reporting on how unbearable to work with him and he later admitted to being on a self-distracting path.
