Public Relations Officer of Charterhouse, George Quaye has come out to clear the notion going around that all those who voted for Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy in the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) need refund.
Not only the fans but rapper Criss Kwaku Waddle has expressed same opinion that it’ll be prudent for Charterhouse who happens to be the organisers of Ghana Music Awards to refund voting money to the aggrieved fans.
Speaking in an interview with Akwasi Aboagye, George Quaye posited that winners were not determined solely by the votes and so it was out of place for voters to request for their monies.
“Let’s not forget the winners were not solely determined by the votes by the fans. What about the board and academy who left their various assignments to vote on who wins. What about the artists who didn’t win.Did their fans come out asking for their monies?, he quizzed.
On Thursday May 23, 2019, Charterhouse in a press conference announced Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have been stripped off awards won this year and are to return their plaques with immediate effect. Besides, they’ve been banned indefinitely in reference to anything that has to do with future VGMAs.
