Following a fatal collision with an articulated truck, the driver of a saloon car has passed away. The accident took occurred on the Teacher Mante New Town Community stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The deceased was reportedly driving a Chevrolet Prizm with registration number GR 2698-16. He seemed to be heading in the direction of the Kumasi junction. However, upon makin it to Teacher Mante, he attempted overtaking some vehicles and ended up colliding with a DAF XF articulated vehicle with registration number AS 5607-16. The articulated truck happened to be facing the opposite direction and was fully stocked with bags of maize.
The victim, as a result of the collision was caught behind the steering wheel of the mangled vehicle in a pool of his own blood.
Abdul Fataw,37, driver of the articulated truck and his two drivers’ mates also sustained injuries. Hence, they were conveyed to the Obregyimah Presbyterian Health Centre to receive treatment.
The driver of the salon car was however taken out of the vehicle by the Police and other motorists. He was immediately rushed to the Nsawam Hospital. But, upon being pronounced dead on arrival, his body was deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and identification purposes.
Sergeant Francis Gomado, The Acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command disclosed to Starr FM that investigations are currently on going and that both cars have been towed from the road.
