Sammy Gyamfi who is NDC’s National Communications Officer says it beyond his mind that the present administration would consider imposing a tax on savings.
He described the Electronic Transfer Levy, often known as the e-levy, as “crazy,” claiming that it is arcane in the system of taxes in Ghana and that it is “stupid.”
The Value Added Tax (VAT) and other taxes, he said to Johnnie Hughes on TV3’s New Day on Tuesday, February 1, are “taxing on spending.” He cited the VAT and other taxes as examples of taxation on savings.
Consequently, he came to the conclusion that “e-levy is not a tax.” “It is a kind of stealing.”
