Ebony Reign’s Driver Thrown Behind Bars Following Recent Investigations

Okoh Pinehas Chartey, the man who drove Ebony to her death has been jailed by the  Nkawie Circuit Court.

The unfortunate event occurred on 8 February 2018, when Mr. Chartey chauffeured the Jeep car which carried Ebony Reigns and three other victims into some road railings somewhere between Nyamebekyere and Nsuta on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway.

After the fatal accident, Chartey was made to appear before the court of law where he pleaded not guilty to the charges of; dangerous driving and driving without a license. Following that court ruling, he was set to appear before court again on March 24, 2021.

Details of the court proceedings revealed that, Mr. Chartey, in a bid to avoid crashing into a heap of sand, swerved on reflex where he crashed into some road railings. The crash resulted in the demise of  Ebony, Franklina Maame Yaa Nkansah, and Lance Corporal Vondee Atsu Francis.

Upon further investigations, it was discovered that, the driver’s license of the accused had actually expired about three years prior to the incident, on August 28, 2015.

In view of this new information, Mr. Chartey was brought before court where he was accused and charged.
