The Ministry of Education has denied accusations in the media that several Senior High Schools (SHS), notably those in the Volta Region, are suffering from a lack of food supplies.

The Ministry of Education said in a statement that “sufficient supplies have been provided to the schools in issue,” indicating that the statements in question are untrue.

Due to a lack of available food products to satisfy the demands of the student body, school administrators have expressed concern that their institutions may be forced to close.

The Ministry of Education, on the other hand, said that their investigations showed “all Senior High Schools in the nation had received an appropriate supply of food goods.”

The reaction comes after a video was posted on social media showing pupils of St. Paul’s Senior High School and Minor Seminary in Hatsukorpe (Ketu South) being fed gari and a pot of soup that was very weak and had just one piece of fish for every 10 kids.

A video that was captured by blogger Kobby Kyei and uploaded on the internet has caused many people’s hearts to break.
