President Akufo-Addo has sent words of felicitations and goodwill to farmers and fisherfolks in the country as today, Friday, November 6, 2020, marks Farmers’ Day.
Ideally, the Farmers’ Day is celebrated on every first Friday of the month of December to reward farmers and fisherfolk for their hard work throughout the year.
However, in this year, it had to be observed on this day because Ghana’s election will be held on December 7 and the government has thought it wise not to allow a holiday to be observed few days to an election.
Also, in December, the politicians and state leaders will be too busy to sit and observe the Farmers’ Day celebration.
In a social media post, President Akufo-Addo has thanked all farmers and fisherfolks for working hard to feed the nation, especially in a difficult year as 2020 when COVID struck and affected the normal lives of every individual.
“May God bless our farmers and fisherfolk…” the president said.
