The Ghana Education Service has jumped to the defense of a BECE invigilator who denied a candidate of Beifikrom Basic School permission to visit the washroom.
It would be recalled a female candidate was forced to defecate on herself at Mankessim Senior High School examination center in the Central Region on Friday.
GES however defended the invigilator saying he did nothing wrong as he was operating within the rules and regulations of WAEC.
Reports suggest that the Municipal Education Director, Mr. Cobbed noted that it’s against WAEC rules to allow a candidate to go out of the examination hall less than 30 minutes after the paper has started.
He stated that the invigilator was under the assumption that the candidate was just lying about her situation to engage in some malpractice hence refusing her to visit the washroom as she requested.
The Municipal Education Director added that plans were underway to make the invigilator and delegation from Education Directorate together visit the victim’s family to apologize for the embarrassment.
