A new report just filtering in indicates that the men’s relay team representing Ghana at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham has been disqualified for a technical violation despite finishing third in heat 2 of 4×100 meters.

It was gathered that Team Ghana decided to rest Joseph Paul Amoah an hour before the commencement of the race but failed to alert the officials which contravenes the game’s rule.

Before the race, it was Amoah’s name that was projected on the screen and not Abdul Rasheed Sameenu who was actually on the track.

Ghana fielded Sean Safo-Antwi, Benjamin Azamati, Barnabas Aggerh, and Sameenu, in that order.

In the meantime, the Gambia will take Ghana’s place in 4x100m men’s final race tomorrow.

A report from GTV Sports shared on their official Facebook page confirms this sad development. It reads;

For failing to confirm a change in the running order at least one hour to the competition, Ghana 🇬🇭has been disqualified from the men’s 4×100-meter semifinals. Furthermore , the appeal of the Ghana Athletics Association’s on the issue failed. This means Ghana will not participate in tomorrow’s final.
