Popular Ghanaian food blogger Zainab was confronted by police and taken to a station after she refused to let officers search her.
In a live Video, the blogger said that she was in an uber on her way to the Kokrobite beach when she was stopped by the police and asked to get out of the car and be searched, but she refused while insisting that she knows her rights.
The police explained to her that it was mandatory to search her and find out whether or not she possessed things that are prohibited such as drugs, but she refused saying the only reason they stopped her was because she was just a girl in a car.
Prior to her lack of compliance, the police decided to take her to a station. This pushed Zainab to reveal that she has faced multiple situations like that and that it was harassment. She said;
“this is harassment, they do this to me all the time. There’s been times I’ve been in an uber and a policeman forced to take my number. It’s sexual harassment and I’m not going to stand for it.”
The officers took her to the station and it seems the situation has been resolved as she has tweeted that she is fine and has also thanked people in an Instagram post for staying on her live and making sure she wasn’t actually arrested.
