Ghana’s ambassador to Italy, Hilda Quartey Koranteng dies of cardiac arrest

Eudora Hilda Quartey Koranteng, Ghana’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Italy with concurrent accreditation to Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, and the FAO, died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday, October 20, according to top officials.

She recently hosted President Nana Akufo-Addo in Serbia when the President attended the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in her concurrent capacity to Serbia, and she was reported to be in good health.

President Akufo-Addo appointed Ambassador Koranteng in 2019.

She took office on June 11, 2019, after presenting her letters of credence to President Sergio Mattarella in Rome, Italy. She was recognized for increasing the Mission’s efficiency by implementing an efficient online and passport printing system.

She installed and operationalized the Embassy’s Biometric Passport Printing System in a year.

The Ghanaian community embraced the new regime enthusiastically, with over three thousand (3000) online passport applications received in the first month alone.

Ambassador Eudora Quartey-Koranteng took over for Paulina Patience Abayage, who had been recalled by President Akufo-Addo to serve as Upper East Region Minister.
