Burna Boy’s quest to crown his remarkable music career on the back of the many achievements he chalked in 2019, was dashed by Angelique Kidjo who beat him to the the World Best Music Album award at just ended 2020 Grammy Awards.
Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo, known as Angélique Kidjo grabbed the award ahead of Altin Gun, “Gece”, Bokante & Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley, “What Heat”, Nathalie Joachim with Spektral Quartet, “Fanm D’Ayiti”, and Angelique Kidjo, “Celia”.

Despite the loss, Burna Boy still belongs to an enviable list of Nigerian artists who have been recognized by Grammy Awards organizers.
The singer joins the likes of Seun Kuti, Femi Kuti and King Sunny Ade in getting listed in that category at the Grammy Awards.
Other Nigerian Grammy nominees include, Babatune Olatunji, Wizkid, Timaya and Kah Lo. Sikiru Adepoju won the Grammy Awards in 1991 and 2009.
