Ghanaian Reggae/dancehall artiste Samini has stated that awards don’t excite him anymore since it wouldn’t help him at this stage of his music career.
The dancehall legend missed out on two significant awards at the just-ended VGMAs and quickly pointed out that it is crucial for those coming up to win such an award since it will go a long to help them gain confidence in what they do.
According to him, he loved to be awarded when he broke into the music scene and would have been hurt if it was those days but he is now content with what he has achieved in music so far and a losing an award won’t take anything away from his success in music.
Samini was nominated in the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Reggae/Dancehall Song categories but lost them all to Stonebwoy and KiDi respectively.
