Ghanaian Dancehall king Shatta Wale, who is well known as one of the promoters of weed smoking has revealed that he has taken an indefinite break from the substance.

This comes as a major surprise, especially since in 2017 Shatta Wale advised his Shatta Movement fans to feel free and smoke weed despite it being illegal in the country.

Speaking on Good Evening Ghana in an exclusive interview with Paul Adom Otchere, the “I know my level” hit maker acknowledged that his eccentric behavior and social media rants are not influenced by smoking as some people have suggested.

He told Paul, “I stopped smoking because people thought weed was influencing me in the industry and I wanted to show people that I love dancehall and I can stop smoking weed”.

“I want the public to know that just as my father watched me grow up into the wonderful person that I am now, I also want to see my kids grow.”

He again added that, people have the misconception that he needs to smoke weed to be ‘high’ in order to render a good show, but;
“I want them to know that I’m delivering on my God-given talent and not under the influence of substances like weed.
Though I have come out publicly to state the fact severally that I’m on weed break, they don’t believe me,” he said.

Asked whether he smokes other substances, he said he now smokes Cigar as inspired by a mentor of his from Mexico.
