Popular Ghanaian reggae musician and radio broadcaster with Zylofon FM, Blakk Rasta has thrown some shots at the Akufo-Addo-led government over excess borrowing from developed countries.
It’s been more than 60 years since Ghana achieved independence but the country is swallowed in debt amounting to over 50 billion US dollars.
Despite having had significant amounts of debt cancelled a decade ago, the country is losing around 30% of government revenue in external debt payments each year and according to statistics, that is set to increase in no time as the country seeking help from foreign countries.
According to IMF, the country’s debt will go above GH¢300 billion before the end of 2021.
It is in view of this that Blast Rasta on his show on Zylofon FM disclosed that the debt of Ghana keeps increasing at an alarming rate which is not best for a country that wants to develop beyond foreign aid.
According to him, since we do not service our debts, there is no way we will break the chain of indebtedness adding that it is an irresponsible government that keeps borrowing and not making plans to service its debt.
