Mahama Ayariga who is the MP for Bawku Central can’t understand why NPP members keep pushing Mahama and NDC to seek redress at court over their disagreement with the electoral results.
Mahama Ayariga in the studios of GHOne Tv asserted that it has become suspicious at how the NPP have suddenly developed confidence in the court and keep pushing the NDC there.
He noted: “I get suspicious when the NPP keeps saying go to court, is there something they have put in the court that makes them confident in court?
“What the NDC doesn’t understand is why some people especially in the NPP and electoral commission thinks we should go to court at all cost. Just as the electoral commission made a mistake, the court is only nine judges, they can also make a mistake,” Ayariga told GHone TV Thursday.
On records, the Ghanaian electoral commission on Wednesday, December 9 declared incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo the winner of the country’s presidential election.
The 76-year-old Akufo-Addo from the centre-right New Patriotic Party (NPP) beat his opponent and predecessor John Dramani Mahama of the centre-left National Democratic Congress (NDC) with 51.59% of the vote.
