Aspiring Member of Parliament for West Wuguong Constituency, John Dumelo has promised to revise rent control act and by helping people pay for rent without the two years advance “syndrome”.
One rule about renting a house in Accra is paying a two year advance. This makes it difficult for the average graduate who earns 500 -800 cedis a month to afford the rent.
Reacting to this, John Dumelo in a post on his Instagram page has stated that one of the first things he will.do when he gets to Parliament is to push for the enforcement of the rent control act.
According to the actor cum farmer and politician, he will make sure Ghanaians pay a 6 months rent advance.
He wrote; one of the first things I will do when I get to Parliament is to push for the enforcement of the rent control act. We need to pay at most 6months rent advance. How can we (youth esp) survive in an economy where we have to pay 2 years rent upfront? not right!! We dey bleed.”
His post was applauded by many Ghanaians who are in a similar situation.
